Default Your solo farming location(s)?

I have been following some of the info or thread posted on the forum, such as Griffon farm.

Sadly, i find hunting Griffon very difficult, for its time and effort, one could tag along in a UW for a little better of fun.

So I like to ask from your experience, what is a good place to let a ranger farm solo?

depends on ur solo build...

but i find the most effective way to solo as a Ranger is to trap... therefore any place that has a shitload of melee monsters is perfect for me... such as the Mountain Troll Cave outside Droks or Desert Griffons outside Augury

You could try Kassad's solo ids farm build somewhere in this forum, and like valerius has said trapping is one of the best ways for a ranger to solo farm. I also remember a pet solo build somewhere in this forum.

I have read the IDS farm build, it was really enjoyable, but to compare with the comfort of solo farming some of the classes are having, I still find it weaker then I imagained.

So may be I really want to see if there is a way around to match other classes sol farming ability using the ranger.

Yes, I think traps seems to be the core of ranger solo farming most of the time on the fourm, but I personally dont really find "comfort" in fully rely on them, just because its usually slow, and if you miss one defensice stance, you will have to run away, and repeat. But thats just my experience.

I've pretty much given up on my ranger for farming purposes. I used to do Ettins for the rune drops but decided anything my ranger could do my other classes could do faster. I use my Ranger for free/tip running nowadays as well as every no farm chance I get. Extremely enjoyable and my favourite character? Yes! Profitable? Not so much, for me at least.

Unless someone was to show me Drok running with an R/Mo...no pressure though

*gasp* Am I on the ranger forum?

I've heard that it's possible to farm the Ice Imps outside (in Talus Chute) Ice Caves of Sorrow using a barrage ranger.

Its just a rumor. Have fun

to Majesty's to start another round.

hey Guys:

actually I have been running a Judges insight R/Mo build outside of Bergen Hot Springs for quite some time now...I've gotten 4 superior Abs, and 2 Sup Vigors, led alone several majors/superiors of lesser value....off of skeletons. Basically all you need is barrage, judges insight, troll unguent, balths spirit, mending, watchfull spirit, Anitidot signet, and whirling Defense....

Put your enchants on, power up energy by mobbing each group of skeletons...hit judges and barrage...3 shots kills a mob of 6....pick up everything!..and move to the next mob...

Only run the spawn with the necrid horseman patrolling and only go as far as the area with the damned cleric/wraith on the low ground...takes about 8 minutes to run and youll get about 900 Gold per 8 minutes....

add that up over a couple of hours and throw in a couple of majors and the occasional superior...were talking good, solid, steady farming...nothing left to chance...you will get 1.7k per 16 minutes..thats 6.8k an hour at least....just sell everything you get the the merchant except for major vigors/absorbtions or any superior runes of value..

as far as attributes go with 7 smiting, 8 healing, 16 marks, 5 wilderness, 8 expertise...this will give you enough health regen to totally negate the skeletons poison and the hell hounds bleading/crippling attacks...

One last thing...use the anitdote to counter the sorcerers blinding flash and throw in a troll unguent to regain health faster before the next mob. This farming buid paid for 90% of my fow armor...a steady income of mid-level items is better than the occasional lucky drop in higher area levels...keep this to your selves...you will get a superior Vigor or Abs it just might take you 8 hours or so, just stick in there..keep farming this area and it will pay off.

Happy Farming

Note: Just for you curious rangers...I did find a Max Damage Dead Bow, Req 8, Damage +18% to Skeletons, Fire Damage, 4:1 Life Stealing here so just goes to show those skeleton bowmasters may just drop an uber weapon if you farm long enough.....

it's not really "ub3r" unless it has a perfect dmg mod on it... the req 8 on top of a bow with a perfect dmg mod makes the bow "godly"

and... u can't have Fire dmg and 4:1 Vamp on the same bow...

thanks for pointing that out...I know you cant have fire and vamp on the same bow...I got a drop something like that, not exactly...and I never said I got an "uber" drop, just claimed that the potential was there if you farm long enough.

I have tried the build and the location, its really could ne quite powerful. 200 DMG on each of these undead rangers and friends, its quite a nice feeling.

My only problem is that, I did not have as much loot as your have said, and these things are level 13, 17, just not really an act that make you feel too good.

Hey Romeo:

I think all I carried in my inventory is a superior Salvage Kit, a regular ID kit, and my 4 Weapons...the key to success with this area is the quantity and steadfastness of the items you pick up...

Go out the Nebo Terrace side and get the spawn with the necrid horseman patrolling from left to right, wait till he goes away and kill the first mob, then the horseman, than the other two goups of skeleton arches followed by the groups of little annoying things and sorceres (you can do two groups at once), then kill the other group.

you can kill the hell hound with the groups of sorceres and thier fiends or you can kill them seperatly...after taking out the middle portion kill the left set of skeletons with the bowmaster, then the guys on the low ground and the the other group of skeleons/bowmaster to your right...then pick up all the loot including the stuff in the low ground...stop here respawn and do it again...

if you are doing the run correctly you will get around 700g in 8 minutes or so...

Outside Beetletun into Nebo Terrace.

14 marksman
10 expertise
11 wilderness (yes including runes)

called shot..hunters shot..dual shot...kindle arrows...distract shot..savage shot..storm chaser...troll unguent

I don't go after experience or 'uber' drops persae... purely for gold and possible upgrade items.

run stormchaser as you nail mergoyle mobs...negates the spirit shackles/mind wrack combo they throw at you.....cotinue clearing the fire imps just to south of them as well...same build..just pop a troll as and when need to offset mob fire attacks.
10-15 mins a run...average about 1-1.5k a run.. (leave nothing on ground and salvage the least valued stuff if out of room)..return to town and sell to merchant.
This build is also good for running from Gates of Kryta into North Kryta through beach area and swamp. Takes about an hour there...roughly 5-7k a trip..using same ideology.

When you run swamp in North Kryta..pay more attention to troll when killing bog skales and you'll be just fine.

Stating again for clarity.....merely done for solo gold and upgrade possibilities and it's really easy to move through. I prefer farming at range.:0

R/N Grawl Farming outside Port Sledge

Ok here is the set up.

You need two masks:
1) A Tamer's Mask with super BM rune. (Use this mask when casting EoE then switch to the other afterward)
2) A Hunter's Mask with minor Expertise Rune( if you have the rune already on one armor piece then it is not necessary)

Attribute Distribution:
With Hunter's Mask on it should be
Curses - 4
Beast Mastery - 10
Expertise - 13
Wilderness Survival - 10 (for it to be +8 regen with troll)
All extra just put in Marksmanships (you DO NOT need to meet the requirement for your bow for this build)

Play with the atrribute a bit, sometime I put more in Curses and less in WS for more damage. 1 less pip wont hurt you.

The skill are:
Troll Unguent, Throw Dirt, Whirling Defense, Lightning Reflexes, Dodge, Mark of Pain, Edge of Extinction, and Oath Shot{E}

Basically, run outside Port Sledge. Cast EoE behind the hill (this hill will be where you gather all the aggro) just a little north-west from Port Sledge. Then Unguent on and use Dodge to run away from the EoE fast so you dont draw any aggro to it. When Dodge about to end use Lightning Reflexes to draw aggro while walking back to that hill where you casted the EoE behind. When Lightning Reflexes end use Whirling, Unguent, Throw Dirt, MoP, and then Oath Shot. Then Lightning Reflexes, Troll, Throw Dirt, MoP on another target, and then Whirling. And start shooting your bow and watch the number flies . They should all die pretty quickly.

This run is easier if a lot of Grawls spawn, the more the better. If the Ele boss spawn he will probably mess up the run, because he will Glimmering Mark you and blinded you so you will miss with Oath Shot. The EoE usually will not kill the boss and will draw some that was just outside of EoE range. Just Oath Shot and use your stances and Unguent while picking up your drops.

The drop is not too great, but I do get some sup runes from time to time, some gold weapons(got one with +1 Death 19% salvage and got 15 woods ), dyes, and lots of shiverpeak keys. There usually a chest nearby too. Drop is not as good as the old Griffon farming but it so much more fun farming with EoE

Note: This isn't my build, a guildie show me this and it isn't his build either, so I don't know who to give credit to.

I usually Solo-Farm outside Port Sledge. It's not as hard as other places. I'd love to use the build listed above... being a monk with Vampiric/Zealous Bows.. I'd use something like this:
  • Barrage
  • Lightning Reflexes
  • Whirling Defence
  • Dodge
  • Troll Unguent
  • Vigorous Spirit
  • Live Vicariously
  • Edge of Extinction
Does that sound about right? I think the only problem might be doing more damage. I'm having trouble dealing a fair amount of damage to people--without spreading myself too thin.
